Jordan Henderson injury

This season the Reds have lost key player after key player.

Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season in October.

A few weeks later Joe Gomez joined him on the sidelines, the pair both out for the campaign due to knee injuries.

Not even the skipper was safe from the chop.

In February Jordan Henderson picked up a groin injury which has kept him out since.

Jordan Henderson injury update

When the skipper was initially ruled out the prognosis was six weeks.

The captain was meant to be back for the business end of the season with some hoping he may even make it back in time for the Champions League quarter final with Real Madrid.

His recovery wasn’t as rapid as expected.

This week Jürgen Klopp delivered a Jordan Henderson injury update, telling a pre-match press conference:

“Hendo didn’t train yet with the team and it will probably be around the last week when he will have the chance to train with us, but he will have been out too long to play for us.

“Hendo’s injury is completely different (to Van Dijk’s). Hendo doesn’t play and doesn’t train normally with us so that is a decision between (England boss) Gareth (Southgate) and Hendo but I think there is a chance for sure. Unfortunately not for us but for England.”

What RTK has to say

This is bad news and it can only get worse.

The boss leaving the door open for Jordan Henderson to play in the Euros means that the skipper could risk aggravating his injury.

We would much rather he spent the season focusing on getting match fit for the Reds rather than risking another injury at the Euros.

We’ve already lost Joe Gomez due to England duty, please, please, not another injury on international duty.

Virgil van Dijk has made the sensible decision to stay home, take his lead Hendo.
