Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League is a long shot. The Reds have been dreadful in recent months and as such we can’t afford to drop any more points in our quest for the top four. Thankfully, a Jorginho howler for Chelsea against Arsenal has handed Liverpool a big boost in their hopes.

Liverpool top four scramble
There’s not a Kopite alive who would’ve thought this is where we’d be at this stage of the season.
The Reds were all conquering last term, we were expected to go ahead and build a dynasty, back to back titles.
Then the worst injury crisis in Premier League history struck.
Although the lads battled on bravely until January, since then they’ve been utterly dreadful.
A sequence of poor results has left the club scrambling for a top four finish.
The task wasn’t made any easier by Manchester United fans forcing a fixture rejig which has made the Reds’ job even harder whilst gifting Leicester City three points they likely wouldn’t have stolen otherwise.
Jorginho howler for Chelsea v Arsenal
This week fellow top four hopefuls Chelsea were in action at Stamford Bridge.
The West London side welcomed Mikel Arteta’s inconsistent Arsenal.
In the end the game was decided by a Jorginho howler for Chelsea which gifted Arsenal the only goal of the game.
The midfielder’s back pass was only just kept out of the net by Kepa before Emile Smith-Rowe was gifted a tap in.
Liverpool boost
The defeat for Chelsea gives Liverpool a big boost in their Champions League bid.
If the Reds win both of their games in hand they’ll be just one point behind the Chels.
The West London side also have to take on Leicester City who are also chasing a top four finish.
We just need the Reds to hold their nerve in their remaining games.
