Liverpool come off worse than Glazers from Man United protests

The race for the top four is a tight one. The Reds have to win every one of their remaining games in order to stand a chance. Unfortunately the lads’ hopes were dealt a body blow this week. Somehow, Liverpool have come off worse than the Glazers from the Man United fans protest at Old Trafford.

Liverpool v Man United; fans protest at Old Trafford

Let’s get it straight: I back the protests at Old Trafford.

It is easy to understand the anger towards the Glazer family.

The owners have taken plenty out of the club and have loaded the business with debt over the years – as any Manchester United fan will tell you. (If I’m wrong then blame the first Manc you see on Twitter for the falsehoods).

The Super League debacle poured fuel on the fire and fans responded with direct action: invading the Old Trafford pitch and forcing the postponement of a clash with Liverpool.

Manchester United 1-2 Leicester City

The postponement caused plenty of issues with scheduling.

The Reds calendar was clogged up due to the rearrangement and Man United have been forced into a game every two days.

This week they Manchester United took on Leicester City two days before a visit from Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named a side with 10 changes and the visitors ended up eking out a 2-1 win.

Liverpool come off worse than Glazers

The fallout from the Old Trafford protests has impacted Liverpool in every negative way imaginable.

Not only has our fixture list been clogged up but we’ve also picked up injuries since we were meant to play United.

Furthermore, the hosts’ fixture list has led to them gifting three points to a side we need to drop points.

The Foxes were never likely to win at Old Trafford against a full strength side.

Now we face a fully fresh United first XI whilst Leicester have their top four hopes boosted by a gifted win.

Of course, it’s our fault we are having to fight in the first place – well, the injury crisis’ fault – however, United fans’ have caused a massive distortion of the final run in.

Meanwhile, the Glazers appear to have taken no notice at all of the protests.
