Liverpool lineup against Southampton this weekend with the Reds needing a win. Jürgen Klopp’s side cannot afford any further slip ups in their quest for top four. We simply have to win every game and hope that our rivals drop points along the way. The Saints will pose an attacking threat with their gaffer dubbed ‘The Alpine Klopp‘, hopefully we can counter. Here is our predicted Liverpool lineup to face Southampton:
Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker
The Brazilian can launch us on the counter against the Saints. They’ll commit men forward and press us high, leaving gaps for Ali.
Right back: Trent Alexander-Arnold
The Scouser will have a set-piece battle on his hands with the opposition boasting the deadly James Ward-Prowse. We’ll be expecting a big showing from Trent.
Centre back: Nat Phillips
The Bolton Baresi returns to the starting lineup having missed out recently due to a hamstring problem. His aerial presence could be vital when defending JWP’s corners.
Centre back: Ozan Kabak
The February signing has been coming on leaps and bounds in recent weeks. With Ibrahima Konate’s signing looming he’ll be looking to play himself into a permanent move. Che Adams could prove a handful for the Turkish centre back.
Left back: Andy Robertson
Andy Robbo’s energy can make the difference in end to end games. If he can get up with the counter he can be that deadly extra man.
Centre midfield: Fabinho
The Brazilian stepping back in the midfield can make all of the difference, he makes the high press more effective and can intercept balls into the strikers.
Centre midfield: Thiago
The midfield maestro should relish this game, he’ll be under intense pressure and that can see him take a few players out of the game with a smart turn.
Centre midfield: Curtis Jones
The Scouser should return to the starting lineup. It’s a home game and we’ll need to rotate in the coming weeks due to a hectic schedule looming as a result of the Manchester United debacle.
Left wing: Sadio Mane
There’s no denying how disappointing Sadio has been in recent months, facing his former club could give him a much needed boost in motivation. One goal can change things.
Right wing: Mo Salah
The Egyptian netted a superlative opener against Newcastle United in our last Anfield game, here’s hoping for more of the same.
Striker: Diogo Jota
Surely Roberto Firmino will be dropped for this one with Jota given a chance from the off. We should dominate and Jota’s directness could make the difference.
