Liverpool are going to have to reinforce the front line this summer. The Reds have been lacklustre in front of goal in recent weeks and months with this weekend providing further evidence of the dire need for a switch up in the attack. Reported Liverpool target Ousmane Dembele is allegedly available for £44m but there’s an issue with signing him.
Forward signing needed
The goals have thoroughly dried up for Liverpool this season.
Since the turn of the New Year we’ve seen a particularly barren period for the attacking trio.
Injuries can explain away some of our goalless games but not all of them.
The injury crisis has led to disjointed build up play and a lack of pressure on the opposition when the Reds are out of possession.

This is because players are out of position but also because injuries have led to Jürgen Klopp having to run some players into the ground, causing drop offs in intensity.
This weekend provided further evidence for just how dire the need for a forward signing is.
The Reds took on Newcastle United at home and wasted a glut of golden chances.
Sadio Mane was particularly guilty as he failed to find the net on numerous occasions, including an opportunity which saw Mo Salah square the ball to him for what should have been an easy tap in.
We need to liven up the front three, we need to keep them on their toes, we need goals.
It seems as if the only way to do that is to bring in a fresh face to spark some life into the attack.
Liverpool target Ousmane Dembele price
There are plenty of potential targets when it comes to rejuvenating the attack.
One player Liverpool have been consistently linked with is Ousmane Dembele.
The Barcelona winger is entering the final year of his contract this summer, potentially opening the door to a cut price sale.
According to Sport in Spain, Barcelona are willing to sell the winger for just £44m.
This is a dramatic discount on the £135.5m they paid for the Frenchman when they bought him from Borussia Dortmund.
Key problem for Liverpool
There is no doubting that the Barcelona star is a talented player.
However, there is a key problem with Liverpool signing Ousmane Dembele.
The youngster is incredibly injury prone.
His Barcelona career has been plagued by injuries which have seen him fail to repay his lofty transfer fee.
According to Transfermarkt the wide man has suffered 12 separate injuries since 2017.
Given the problems we’ve had with availability this term the last thing we need is to splash out on another fitness concern.
