Liverpool have had a disastrous season. The Reds were expected to begin building a dynasty this term but an injury crisis has derailed the side’s title defence. We’ll be hoping for better next time out but there’s work to be done first. Here is our list of who Liverpool need to sell this summer and who will need replacing when they go:
Joel Matip – replace
This season has to be the final straw when it comes to Joel Matip’s fitness issues.
The Cameroonian defender has had a series of extended spells on the sidelines since joining the club.
Frustratingly, when he does put together a run of games he is one of the best centre backs in the division.
However, these runs of games are often few and far between, interrupted by fitness issue after fitness issue.

It looks as though Ibrahima Konate will replace him.
Xherdan Shaqiri – sell
Little Big Jed Shaqiri can so often be brilliant but is not of first team quality.
There is just something not enough about him, he can shine for us in the cups but otherwise he’s just spending his time on the bench.
Given his undeniable quality it makes no sense for him to be an eternal substitute at his age.
It’s best for all involved if we cash in on him so he can go and be brilliant somewhere else; our money is on a move to Turkey.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – replace
The Ox is another who is too often unavailable.
His persistent fitness issues have seen him slide down the pecking order and as a result even when he is available he can’t get near the starting lineup.
He appears to have lost that spark which made him such a hit when he first joined but with the amount of knee problems he’s had that’s understandable.
The Ox would be better off rebuilding his career elsewhere – perhaps West Ham if they don’t land Jesse Lingard?
Harry Wilson – sell
The Welsh wizard isn’t going to break into the first team any time soon and he would likely have been sold last season if it wasn’t for the pandemic impacting spending power.
Hopefully he’ll find a forever home in the summer, he’s got the potential but he won’t get enough game time at Liverpool.
Marko Grujic – sell
Sadio Mane – replace
We may well remove Sadio’s name from this list in the near future.
For now there is no denying that he’s been miles off the pace this season and we need a shake up in the front three.
Mo Salah is unsellable and Bobby could well be relegated to the bench next term.
Just what to do about Sadio? It looks as though cashing in and buying a big name replacement is the only option unless he turns things around.
