Liverpool fans raving about Ozan Kabak v Newcastle United

Liverpool had a disappointing afternoon on Saturday. The Reds could’ve launched themselves into the top four if only temporarily, instead they wasted a golden opportunity. Despite the result there were some positives to take from the game; some Liverpool fans have been raving about Ozan Kabak for his performance against Newcastle United.

Liverpool 1-1 Newcastle United

This should’ve been a straightforward victory for Liverpool.

When the game began it looked as though that was the way it was going to go.

Mo Salah opened the scoring after just a few minutes when he tucked away arguably the hardest chance of the game.

The Egyptian King demonstrated some marvellous control to bring the ball under his spell and pivot in the same movement before firing the ball past a helpless goalkeeper.

Thereafter we saw a worryingly open game with both sides creating chance after chance.

The Reds could’ve gone into the break 5-0 up had they taken just half of their opportunities.

Instead we spent halftime laughing about how many the front three had managed to miss.

The second half saw more of the same with both teams squandering golden chances.

Given the Reds’ recent home form an equaliser appeared inevitable

Steve Bruce thought his side had drawn level when Callum Wilson tucked the ball away in stoppage time but the goal was chalked off for handball.

Not to worry, an equaliser was nailed on. Joe Willock put the Magpies level with virtually the last kick of the game.

Had it not been for Ozan Kabak then Newcastle United would have equalised much sooner.

The Turkish centre back put in yet another impressive performance for the Reds.

He appears to be growing in stature and confidence every week.

Although he had a shaky start to life on Merseyside he is now looking like he has a long term future with the club.

The youngster made five tackles, five clearances and registered two interceptions.

It was an assured display, one which gives us plenty of cause for excitement for what is still to come from the 21-year-old.
