Kenny Dalglish has spoken out on the Super League. This comes as Liverpool owners FSG continue their silence.
Liverpool are co-founders of the Super League. We’re not exactly sure how much that means right now.
Liverpool, though, continue to say nothing. Well, that’s not quite true. Jurgen Klopp and James Milner both had to talk about it last night as FSG threw them to the wolves.
For the Reds’ owners still haven’t said a word. In fact, they didn’t even put out quotes with the initial statement, instead leaving that to others like Joel Glazer.
But now we have a high-profile figure releasing a statement. Not from FSG, of course, though he is a director at Liverpool – Kenny Dalglish.
“The last few days have been difficult for everyone who loves Liverpool Football Club and I really hope we do the right thing,” he wrote on Twitter.
What RTK has to say
It’s quite incredible that Dalglish is the first director at the club to say anything about the Super League. Not that we expect any less from him, of course.
But given he almost certainly had absolutely nothing to do with the Super League decision, him being the first to speak on it is quite awful. FSG couldn’t come across more cowardly in all of this.
Firstly, there was leaving Klopp to answer questions about the Super League yesterday. A subject he barely understood but was now the face of.
Now they’re staying completely silent as other step down, leaving Dalglish to publicly ask for the right thing. We really, truly, can’t have these people running the club anymore.
This has got to be it. Graeme Souness says the backlash is just the start and we hope he’s right. Liverpool fans must push FSG out of the club.
