Liverpool likely can't sign Erling Haaland due to salary demands

Liverpool are going to have to bring in a striker this summer. The Reds have been utterly devastated by injuries this term and we’ll need a squad revamp over the summer to resolve some glaring issues. Liverpool likely won’t be able to land Erling Haaland this summer if a recent report is accurate.

Lack of goals

This season has seen drop offs in performance throughout the side but nobody could’ve anticipated just how poor the front three would be.

The Reds have always been able to rely on their attacking trio but this term has been disappointing to say the last.

The midfield has been chopped and changed throughout the season and this has led to disjointed build up play.

However, the chopping and changing can’t explain away the amount of missed chances. We need a striker to come in over the summer.

Liverpool and Erling Haaland

Eurosport claimed back in November that Liverpool are one of a number of teams chasing Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian striker is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer with seemingly dozens of clubs vying for his signature.

However, the Reds may not be able to afford him. Not only will he command a lofty transfer fee but according to Goal his agent will be demanding a £30m salary for the star.

What RTK has to say

Jamie Carragher may be disappointed by this news, he told Sky Sports last month that Liverpool should be chasing Haaland ahead of Mbappe.

This is going to be a silly summer transfer window, we’ll likely just have to accept that Manchester City will pull their chequebook out and give the player and club whatever they want.

The financial impact of the past year hasn’t hit us all the same has it?
