Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League last night but their display at Anfield was far from disappointing. There were strong showings all round with some players particularly impressive. Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Michael Owen heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool knocked out
The Reds were utterly woeful in the first half in Madrid.
That shocking 45 minutes essentially handed the tie to the Spanish side.
Jürgen Klopp’s lads had a glimmer of hope heading into the second leg but they failed to capitalise on a number of chances.
In fairness Real Madrid were thoroughly professional throughout, using all of their experience to keep the Reds at bay.

The Scouser in our team was in electric form, carving the visitors’ back line open time and again.
Michael Owen on Trent Alexander-Arnold
Some of Liverpool’s best chances were created by our right back.
His passing was as inventive and incisive as ever, constantly opening up Real Madrid’s defence.
Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Michael Owen heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold:
“[Trent] gets forward, he makes late runs, he can hit it across with his left and right foot. He was pinging balls in, you didn’t know what side he was going to hit it, yet alone which foot he was going to hit it with.
“He’s a stunning, stunning player and the spotlight is on him.”
What RTK has to say
The ex-Red has this spot on, the technique which Trent displays leaves everybody guessing until the last second.
He could be about to spray the ball to the left flank or stab it over the back line.
We are lucky to have him and it’s going to be exciting to watch his career unfold, who knows which position he’ll be playing in five years time?
