Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League this week. The Reds failed to overturn their 3-1 first leg deficit against Real Madrid but the lads certainly gave it a good go at Anfield. Speaking after the game, Jamie Carragher said that it’s time to dismantle the Liverpool front three.
Liverpool fail to overturn deficit
The Reds had it all to do heading into Wednesday night’s tie with Real Madrid.
Jürgen Klopp’s men were dreadful in the first half of the first leg, essentially throwing the tie away.
They turned up on Wednesday night but the lads failed to convert a number of strong chances, Mo Salah was particularly wasteful and could’ve livened the tie up in the opening two minutes.
The wastefulness and lack of ideas from the front three has become a cause for concern, one which has been emphasised by a club legend.

Jamie Carragher on Liverpool front three
Liverpool haven’t scored enough goals this season.
The past few months in particular have been barren with a sequence of low scoring games looking light years away from what we have become used to.
Speaking on CBS Sport on Paramount+ (14/04/21 at 9:55 pm) after the draw with Madrid, Jamie Carragher discussed the Liverpool front three, telling the show:
“Famous front three’s for any team don’t normally stay together this long. This is almost the fourth or fifth season they are together. You go back to the 2018 Champions League final. They scored 91 goals. This season there is only 46.
“There has been a drop-off and that has to be broken up. I am not talking about selling people. But they need to bring someone in to break that up and almost have a new front three.”
What RTK has to say
We have to agree with Jamie Carragher.
The Reds need to shake things up up top. We’ve become stagnant, the lads look knackered and as if they’ve been figured out.
Liverpool need to rejuvenate the attack with new blood, someone to bring something new and dynamic to the equation.
