Nikola Milenkovic could be what Liverpool are reportedly looking for. The Reds supposedly want to save money this summer.
Milan News – of the TuttoMercatoWeb network – believes Liverpool are one club chasing Nikola Milenkovic. More importantly, they say the Serbian is very available this summer.
Milenkovic only has one year left on his deal after this summer. It leaves Fiorentina accepting they’ll have to sell the player.
They won’t get a fee that represents real value, either, given their position. Milenkovic will, undoubtedly, be available on the cheap.
And that will tempt Liverpool – a team CalcioMercato believes have already made contact.
Bild claims the Reds don’t want to spend too much this summer. It’s swaying them in the Ozan Kabak vs Ibrahima Konate discussion.
They’re more likely to go with the former, says the outlet, as he’ll cost far less money. But what if they don’t believe Kabak is good enough?
Well, that’s where Milenkovic becomes a very enticing option. He’s slightly older than the other two at 23 but he has years of Serie A experience.
We’ve sung his praises before, in fact. Just last month, we labelled Milenkovic the ‘sensible’ option.
And he remains just that. Available on the cheap, experienced, and with room to grow.
He also doesn’t carry the injury worries that Konate does, while he’s arguably more ready-to-play than Kabak.
Still, from personal preference, we’d have him third on this particular list.
Kabak, for instance, is younger but may be completely ‘ready to go’ by the end of this season. He’ll have months of first-team football with Liverpool, after all, which puts him in a unique and strong position.
Konate, though, might be no.1. He’s an immense talent with quality experience to boot – if his injuries aren’t an issue, he’s surely the one.
But it all depends on saving money. If Liverpool don’t like either Kabak or Konate for quality or financial reasons, Milenkovic might be their happy middle ground.
