Liverpool were humbled in Madrid this week. The Reds went to the Spanish capital needing a big performance to keep the chance of silverware this season alive. They failed. After a disappointing showing, Stephen Warnock has called for Sadio Mane to be dropped by Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool outclassed
It’s been a while since Liverpool have played so poorly for 45 minutes.
The lads looked clueless for the first half, constantly giving away possession cheaply and constantly out of position.
There was no pressure on the ball when out of possession and no intensity with it when we were in possession.
The hosts capitalised with a stunning yet preventable opening goal.
The second Madrid goal was an embarrassingly sloppy one to concede.
Though the visitors rallied somewhat at the start of the second half it wasn’t enough and we’ve got a mountain to climb as a result.
Stephen Warnock on Sadio Mane
One player who disappointed was our left winger.
Sadio was once again ineffective, going down all too easily when we were in a promising position.
It wasn’t his first poor performance, he’s been dropping clangers week after week of late.
Stephen Warnock has called for Sadio Mane to be dropped by Jürgen Klopp, tweeting that he’s miles off the pace.
What RTK has to say
It is a tough one. He’s been very poor of late but he always has the capability to turn things around in an instant.
Maybe it’s time to start Diogo Jota on the left for a couple of games to give Sadio Mane a break, some time to work on his game.
He’s played an awful lot of football in the past couple of years, fatigue both mental and physical must be setting in.
