Shocking performance: Liverpool player ratings v Real Madrid

Liverpool slumped to defeat against Real Madrid tonight after a torrid first half sealed their fate. The Reds were more impressive in the second half but it wasn’t enough. That one away goal could make all the difference in the second leg. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Real Madrid:

Alisson Becker – 6

What’s he meant to do when people are acting that ridiculously in front of him?

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5

Ar Ay, Trent. It actually pains me to ever give Trent a poor score but that first half error was calamitous. His passing was phenomenal in the second.

Nat Phillips – 4

The Bolton Baresi finally looked out of his depth. Can we blame him? He was meant to be in the second or third tier this season and he’s starting in the Champions League quarters against Real Madrid.

Ozan Kabak – 6

The Turkish centre back had some incredibly impressive moments in the first half, as well as an enormous error.

Andy Robertson – 5

The flying Scotsman misplaced so many passes.

Fabinho – 5

The Brazilian was sloppy and timid, nowhere near as influential as expected.

Naby Keita – 3

The Guinean was utterly anonymous and deserved to be subbed before half time.

Gini Wijnaldum – 4

Gini let us down big time. He was captain tonight but he couldn’t lift those around him.

Mo Salah – 6

He kept trying and eventually got his goal but we need more from him on a big night.

Diogo Jota – 5

Just not enough of an impact from the Portuguese star.

Sadio Mane – 4

Sometimes he just goes down too easily and it wastes a chance, we saw that too often in the final minutes.
