This weekend Liverpool finally got back to winning ways, well, winning in the manner we expect from them. The Reds trounced Arsenal at the Emirates with some thoroughly impressive goals. Some users on Twitter believe that Trent Alexander-Arnold sent out a message to Gareth Southgate with his performance.
Liverpool batter Arsenal
Sure, Liverpool won their last Premier League game before the international break.
However, the win against Wolves was tepid and unconvincing.
This weekend we saw Liverpool back to a semblance of their old selves.
The Reds were ferocious out of possession and in the right moments, winning the ball back high up the pitch and converting these chances into goals.
It took a superlative second half cross from Trent for substitute Diogo Jota to break the deadlock.
Mo Salah slid one through Bernd Leno’s legs to double the lead and Jota lashed home a third.
Alexander-Arnold message for Gareth Southgate
One of the biggest stories of the international break was Alexander-Arnold being snubbed by Gareth Southgate.
The Scouser was left out of the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers in what was thought to be a shock decision.
The Three Lions boss has a wealth of options at right back but Trent’s place as first choice was thought to be untouchable.
This weekend Alexander-Arnold responded to Southgate in defiant fashion with a match winning performance against Arsenal.
His cross for Diogo Jota was one of the best you’ll see and his deliveries throughout the night were tantalising.
Twitter on Trent
The Scouser’s performance left many Twitter users believing he’d sent out a strong message to the England boss; he can’t be left out again.
