Liverpool crush Arsenal

This weekend was always going to be a big one for the Reds.

Jürgen Klopp’s side need to win every one of their remaining games if they want to make the top four this season.

The Reds went to North London needing to show that they still have it in them to qualify for the Champions League and they did so in style.

The visitors were in control throughout but it took Diogo Jota’s second half introduction to spark the game into life.

The Portugal star nodded home a spectacular cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to open the scoring.

Mo Salah doubled the lead a few minutes later and Jota doubled his personal tally 10 minutes from time.

Danny Murphy on Trent Alexander-Arnold

The past month has been a tough one for the Scouser in our team.

Trent was left out of the England squad on the back of the Reds’ poor run of form.

His performance against Arsenal was a statement and a half.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Danny Murphy praised Alexander-Arnold:

“A moment of brilliance opened up this Arsenal team that sat deep.

“One of many, but the one that actually got the breakthrough for Jota, that is a phenomenal cross.

“As I’ve said before, I’ve only ever seen David Beckham cross the ball like Trent. He deserved great credit because some players would have let it [England rejection] get to them.

“Brilliant reaction from a super player and if he continues playing like that Gareth will have no choice but to put him back in.”

What RTK has to say

Liverpool are lucky to have Trent.

We’re also lucky that Gareth Southgate left him out of the latest squad.

The snub has only served to motivate the Scouser and we saw that in North London, he’s back to his very best.
