Liverpool are going to have to act decisively in the summer transfer window. The Reds have struggled this season with injuries and a lack of depth to blame. Liverpool reportedly offering Memphis Depay a contract could see a repeat of the Mo Salah signing.
Memphis Depay story
27-year-old forward Memphis Depay is currently contracted to Lyon.
Many football fans in England will remember him for his ill fated stint at Manchester United.
The Red Devils splashed £31m on the Dutchman in 2015.
He spent just two seasons at Old Trafford before he was moved on to the Ligue 1 side for a fee believed to be worth an initial £16m.
Since joining the French club he’s gone from strength to strength.
This season he’s earned a WhoScored rating of 7.42, netting 14 and assisting nine in 26 starts and four sub appearances.
Liverpool offer for Memphis Depay
This summer sees the expiry of the forward’s contract.
He will be a free agent at the end of the season and the sharks are circling.
According to Marca, Liverpool have offered Memphis Depay a contract.
However, the Reds allegedly face competition from Barcelona and Juventus.
Mo Salah repeat
This season has shown just how lethal Depay can be.
He’s realising the potential which Man United failed to have faith in.
Should Liverpool sign Memphis Depay then it could be a repeat of our swoop for Mo Salah.
The Egyptian King had failed to nail down a place at Chelsea, subsequently being shipped abroad.
The Reds brought him back in a few years later to devastating effect.
Fingers crossed we do repeat the trick, it would be a great one to have over any United fans.
