Liverpool could have a boost in race for Eduardo Camavinga - RTK view

Liverpool are going to have to plug some gaps in the squad this summer. One gap which will need filling is the one to be left behind by the departure of Gini Wijnaldum. Liverpool could have received a boost in the race for Eduardo Camavinga if a couple of reports match up.

Who is Eduardo Camavinga?

Eduardo Camavinga only turned 18-years-old last November but he has been a mainstay in the Rennes midfield for two seasons now.

The young Frenchman can play either in the centre of the park or just behind the midfield.

He has been breaking records left and right for club and country.

His agent, Jonathan Barnett recently told The Athletic that he believes the youngster is destined to be a ‘superstar’.

Liverpool want Eduardo Camavinga

Ever since the lad burst onto the scene there’s been speculation about his future.

Last season Sport linked Liverpool with a move for Eduardo Camavinga.

The Reds reportedly face competition from Europe’s elite with Manchester United and Real Madrid also credited with interest.

It looks as though this season will be his last at Rennes with the race for his signature sure to hot up in the coming months.

Zidane factor

Being a young French midfielder means idolising Zinedine Zidane.

The Real Madrid manager is an icon of the game, venerated in his home country.

According to AS in Spain, Eduardo Camavinga may be reluctant to move to Madrid if Zidane is sacked as manager.

Back in January, ESPN claimed that the higher ups at the club had already decided to keep Zidane until the end of the season but no further.

Should these two reports be true then the favourites for Camavinga’s signature could be out of the race, meaning Liverpool can swoop in.
