Liverpool are going to have to bring in a raft of players this summer. With a number of the first team squad expected to leave, replacements will be necessary. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have offered Gini Wijnaldum a three year contract.
Since joining Liverpool in 2016, Gini Wijnaldum has become an undroppable member of Jürgen Klopp’s midfield.
The Dutchman has been transformed into an industrious, box-to-box man – he arrived as an advanced attacking midfielder.
Roberto Firmino is the only outfield player to play more minutes than Gini since his arrival in 2016.
The Dutchman’s contract expires at the end of this season and there appears to be no renewal in sight.
The dispute is allegedly over a deserved pay rise; the club unwilling to grant the midfielder’s wishes due to his entering his 30s.
Barcelona offer Gini Wijnaldum contract
This summer it seems inevitable that Barcelona will bag Gini Wijnaldum.
Ronald Koeman allegedly made the Dutchman a ‘non-negotiable priority‘ when he took over the club last summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have offered Gini Wijnaldum a three-year-contract.
The outlet claims that the deal will be worth €8m (£6.8m) gross a year.
What RTK has to say
The wheels look to be in motion.
It will be a sad day when the midfielder leaves Anfield.
Gini is a crucial part of the squad and we’ll miss him dearly.
There will certainly be no ill feeling towards the Dutchman, we understand why he’d want to leave, he’ll be remembered fondly.
