'Gifted': Some Wales fans convinced Neco Williams is an 'absolute gem'

Some Wales fans believe Neco Williams is an ‘absolute gem’. The Liverpool youngster shone yet again for his country.

Wales fans are raving about Neco Williams again. They did so just a few days ago and they’re doing it again now.

Williams is thriving on the international stage, even though he’s playing out of position. Wales use him as a left-wingback – something Jurgen Klopp tried but couldn’t get to work.

That performance came in a 3-1 defeat against Belgium, with Williams playing well against Thomas Meunier and Kevin De Bruyne. This time, Wales got a win with the youngster on the left.

They beat the Czech Republic 1-0, with Williams playing the full 90.

The Liverpool man completed two dribbles, created a chance, won a tackle and two interceptions, per Whoscored. All in all, it’s a great, rounded performance from Williams.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

The fact he’s done it on his ‘wrong’ side is just brilliant, though. It suggests he does has a future as a more versatile player, which bodes well for his future at Liverpool.

Kostas Tsimikas certainly hasn’t secured his role as backup to Andy Robertson, after all. Williams might just fancy his chances of taking it for himself.

It would certainly help out Liverpool, who could have an academy player in their squad who offers cover on both flanks. That makes squad registration far easier, allowing for extra players.

It also means more opportunities for Williams to get games. That, in turn, should help him develop faster into the player he can be.

And according to Wales fans, that player can be something very special.

Wales fans on Williams

Given Williams has had some struggles this season, it’s wonderful to see him impressing on the international stage. We think he’s got fantastic potential ourselves and this gives us confidence he can meet it.

Long may this continue, then. Williams may just have a bright future at both Anfield and international level.
