Liverpool are allegedly already hard at work building their squad for next season. The Reds need to make some sweeping changes to the squad after the depth of the side was exposed this term. RB Leipzig director Markus Krosche has slammed reports Liverpool are close to signing Ibrahima Konate.
Liverpool closing in on Ibrahima Konate
This week news broke that the Reds are close to their first summer signing.
The Athletic reported that Liverpool are closing in on Ibrahima Konate.
The 21-year-old Frenchman is one of the most highly rated young defenders in the game.
It will allegedly take the Reds activating his £34m release clause but a deal is thought to be imminent.

The Athletic describe the move as the Premier League’s first major transfer of the summer.
Markus Krosche on Liverpool rumour
The move has been dismissed in Germany.
RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has had his say on Liverpool moving for Konate.
Sky Sports quote the director as saying of the rumour:
“I think that this is not an option for Ibu. He has a long contract with us and he knows what we mean to him and what he means to us.
“He was unlucky last year as he had a long-term injury but this year he is developing well and he is an extremely important player that has a lot of potential.”
What RTK has to say
If The Athletic has reported it then we’re going to believe it.
The outlet doesn’t get much wrong and as much as Krosche may want to downplay the deal, we believe that Michael Edwards will get his man.
Liverpool signing Ibrahima Konate could well go down as one of our best bits of business in years if he’s as good as everybody says he is.
