Liverpool are going to have to address some problem areas in the summer. Jürgen Klopp has plenty to do before the start of the next campaign. Work is allegedly already underway with Liverpool reportedly having bid for Kalidou Koulibaly; Frank Leboeuf has backed the defender to move to Anfield.
Liverpool bid for Kalidou Koulibaly
The Reds back line has been devastated by injuries this season.
Although Jürgen Klopp brought in Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak in the winter window there’s still question marks over what the lineup will be next season.
According to Ian McGarry, Liverpool have submitted a bid for Kalidou Koulibaly.
The journalist told the Transfer Window Podcast that the Reds have submitted an informal offer of £34m.
Frank Leboeuf on Koulibaly
The Senegal defender has been tipped for a move for some time.
Ex-Chelsea man Frank Leboeuf has backed Kalidou Koulibaly to move to Liverpool, telling ESPN:
“He is one of the top defenders I have ever seen, and I wish him to find the best club.
“If I calculate the economy and the sport side as well of it, I only see one club. It’s Liverpool, it’s Liverpool because every other positions are already taken by top players in every big clubs Koulibaly could go. The only place right now is alongside Van Dijk for me.”
What RTK has to say
We can’t see Liverpool signing the defender.
It’s not the type of signing we make, it would be a luxury move.
Man City can afford to throw that kind of money at players about to hit the twilight of their career, we can’t.
The Reds may be the ideal destination but the move wouldn’t make economic sense for us.
