Liverpool haven’t had the season we were expecting them to have. The Reds have struggled this term with injuries decimating the side’s title hopes. One man had us all excited when he arrived in the summer but chopping and changing around him has hampered his progress, though he doesn’t regret his decision. Thiago has said signing for Liverpool was an easy decision after a call from Jürgen Klopp.
Liverpool sign Thiago
This summer Kopites dared to dream.
We spent all of the summer being told that although Liverpool were linked with Thiago a move would be uncharacteristic, there isn’t enough money and so on and so forth.
Some had given up hope of the Reds bringing the Spaniard in.
Then, shortly after he won the European Cup with Bayern Munich, Liverpool signed Thiago for £20m.
Since joining he has suffered with a long term injury and an ever changing team around him, despite this his quality has shone through consistently.
Thiago on Liverpool move
Speaking to AS in Spain, Thiago has discussed his summer switch to Anfield.
The midfielder had plenty of offers on the table but he decided on the Reds, telling the Spanish outlet:
“I had options to return (to Spain), but it was clear to me. Leaving Bayern was to be able to live the experience of the Premier League, a very competitive league.
“When I got the call from the coach (Jurgen Klopp) and the club, it was an easy decision to choose the destination.
“But it was difficult to choose if I really wanted to leave Bayern. In the end it happened and I am very happy.”
What RTK has to say
Thiago joining Liverpool was a statement signing.
The Spaniard confirmed that the Reds are right back at the top, players see Anfield as a destination not a stepping stone.
The midfielder has impressed this season but he’ll be even better next term when there’s fans in the ground and a settled midfield, we can’t wait to see him then.
