Liverpool need to reward Nat Phillips with a new contract

Liverpool have had a rollercoaster ride of a season. There have been more downs than ups but we can take positives out of some of the hands we’ve been dealt. This week we had to start one our backup brigade at centre back and he was incredibly impressive. Liverpool need to give Nat Phillips a new contract, he could be worth millions.

Nat Phillips stars against RB Leipzig

This week Liverpool progressed to the quarter finals of the Champions League with a comfortable win over RB Leipzig.

Nat Phillips put in a performance to remember at the back.

The Bolton Baresi was in stunning form as the Reds, like in the first leg, beat Julian Nagelsmann’s side 2-0.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane once again grabbed the goals with just a few minutes between them.

The win wouldn’t have been possible without Nat Phillips batting away every RB Leipzig attack.

The 23-year-old was heading everything and blocking everything.

Nat Phillips new contract

This summer we expect a lot of ins and outs at Liverpool.

As it stands the Bolton Baresi will be one of those outs with his deal expiring at the end of the season.

Liverpool need to give Nat Phillips a new contract, not only as a reward for his hard work, rapid progress and exceptional performances but also for financial reasons.

Shop window showings

This season nobody expected Nat Phillips to get a game.

He was widely expected to leave before the start of the campaign but no deal materialised.

Instead he’s been thrown into the deep end and he’s thoroughly put himself in the shop window.

This week he was the best player on the pitch in a titanic Champions League clash, that’s got to be worth a few quid.

Liverpool could be missing a trick if they don’t hand Nat Phillips a new contract, we could lose out on millions in a potential transfer fee.

Even if he isn’t in the club’s plans for next season, it is worth extending his deal.
