Who are Liverpool supposed to sell Mohamed Salah to?

There are suggestions that Liverpool could sell Mohamed Salah. But who exactly to?

We’ve seen a few ideas in recent days that Liverpool could or should sell Mohamed Salah.

For instance, Stan Collymore suggested in his Mirror column that the Reds should offload the Egyptian. Well, he actually went further, saying they should also sell Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

But that would be madness.

Then we’ve got AS saying that Liverpool could sell Salah to make room for Kylian Mbappe. Now, there immediate problem there is we don’t believe a non-Champions League club could sign the Frenchman.

And that appears to be Liverpool’s future, unfortunately. Regardless, that’s not our biggest problem with it.

Lack of suitors

Everyone would sign Salah if they could. He’s an elite talent who would make every squad better. But the number of clubs who could actually sign him is tiny.

For starters, you can rule out every Premier League side. The chances of Liverpool selling to a rival are zero.

So, who? Well Real Madrid are an obvious one but as that AS report says, they don’t have the money. They want Mbappe and can’t afford him – we can’t imagine they’ll then splash the cash on Salah.

Barcelona? Again, they lack money. Anyway, we can’t imagine their idea of a rebuild is 29-year-old Salah. It would be foolish.

Now we’re quickly running out of suitors. Paris Saint-Germain? Maybe if they sold Mbappe but that looks unlikely as no one can afford him.

Bayern Munich never go for signings like this, while we don’t see any Serie A sides making the move happen.

We doubt Liverpool do want to sell Salah but even if they did, it’s tough to see where it would be. No one has that kind of money for a player pushing 30 right now.

So while some may have their fantasy transfer plans and ideas, we’re not sure they’re applicable to the real world. Salah is a Liverpool player and we imagine he’s going to stay that way.
