Who is Nuno Mendes?
18-year-old Sporting Lisbon youngster Nuno Mendes plays as a left wing back.
The teenager has been a mainstay for the Portuguese top flight side since breaking into the first team in the second half of last season.
The defender has netted one goal and made one assist in 18 appearances in the league this term.
His impressive performances have earned him an exciting 7.23 WhoScored rating.
The wonderkid is noted for his dribbling ability as well as his crossing and knack for intercepting opposition passes.
Liverpool insist on Nuno Mendes
The Reds have been linked with the kid ever since he burst onto the scene in Portugal.
A Bola have claimed that Liverpool ‘insist’ on signing Nuno Mendes with Manchester United also interested.
The Portuguese outlet has stated that whilst the teenager’s release clause stands at €70m (£60m), Sporting are willing to negotiate a deal for a lower fee.
The newspaper has also pointed out that Sporting are prepared to lose the left back as they already signed a replacement in January when they brought in Matheus Reis from Rio Ave.

To be racking up the senior minutes that he is at his age is incredibly impressive, particularly for a side fighting for top spot in Portugal – Sporting are currently 10 points clear at the top.
