Liverpool are set for a major overhaul of the playing staff over the summer. The Reds will need to upgrade on their depth and brace themselves for the loss of a key first team player as his contract expires. According to reports in Italy, there is a handshake agreement in place for Gini Wijnaldum to join Inter Milan.
Few players embody Jürgen Klopp’s philosophy and influence better than Gini Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman was an advanced attacking midfielder when he arrived at the club.
In the years since his game has become more disciplined, expansive and energetic.
Jürgen Klopp has turned him into a midfield dynamo, a one man pressing machine. He wins the ball back and keeps it, rarely losing possession.
Unfortunately for Kopites we look set to lose the midfielder in the summer.
Gini Wijnaldum to Inter Milan
Plenty of clubs are interested in taking our Dutch dyanmo.
Barcelona were thought to be front runners last summer but their reported interest never materialised into a deal.
According to journalist Sandro Sabatini, there is a handshake agreement in place for Gini Wijnaldum to join Inter.
Quotes from the journo were relayed by FCInter1908; the article claims that the decision was made last summer to bring him to the club on a free.
What RTK has to say
Gini Wijnaldum joining Inter Milan would be a sad day for Liverpool.
The Dutchman is a crucial cog in Jürgen Klopp’s machine, it’ll be grim to see him go.
However, we don’t see Inter as serious European rivals at the moment so it is probably better than him joining a La Liga giant or even PSG.
Wherever he goes we’ll always wish him the best.
