Report: Liverpool’s Raphael Varane transfer chance grows as timeline set

Raphael Varane could well be on the transfer list soon, according to reports. A timeline is in place.

This comes from AS. They claim that Real Madrid could put Raphael Varane up for transfer soon.

Varane – a player who has won virtually everything in the game – isn’t usually someone they’d sell. His contract expires in 2022, however, meaning this is the last year Real can get money for him.

So there’s a timeline. If nothing changes before June, Real will start listening to offers and look to sell the 27-year-old.

That will interest Liverpool, then. OKDiario believes the Reds want Varane but need Real to be open to a move.

This is a positive step in that direction, from a Red point of view.

What RTK has to say

This is the news Liverpool will want to hear. It’s certainly the news fans will want to hear.

It doesn’t really get better than Varane in this market. The only potentially bigger signing is Sergio Ramos, really, but he’s 34.

And Liverpool won’t be interested anyway.

Varane is in his prime, a proven winner, and appears to be over his injury concerns. And he’s potentially available on the cheap. That’s perfect from just about anyone’s perspective.

So we hope Liverpool make a move here. We know they’ll want a defender this summer – Ozan Kabak’s option to buy proves that – and Varane is as good as it gets.

Liverpool could partner him with any of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez or Joel Matip and they’d have an elite centre-back pairing. It’s all just too good to be true.

The ‘problem’ is that this will appeal to just about every club on the planet. That quickly turns things into a bidding war.

Still, it’s one Liverpool should try to win. Varane would be a world-class signing and one that immediately strengthens the team.
