Liverpool have fallen way behind Man City this season. The Reds have been utterly ravaged by injuries whilst Man City’s ridiculously expensive squad has been largely untouched in comparison. Speaking after his side’s Champions League win in midweek, Pep Guardiola said money is the key to his success.

Liverpool fall behind
The Reds don’t have the deepest of squads.
We don’t have the money to spend tens of millions on players to backup the backups.
As a result when an unprecedented injury crisis hit the club this season the campaign became a write off.
Man City have pulled well ahead, winning 19 games in a row, most recently beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 in the Champions League.
Pep Guardiola money admission
Speaking to the press around his side’s tie with Monchengladbach, Pep Guardiola was asked how his side achieve such remarkable consistency.
The Spaniard appeared to agree with his detractors, saying, as per the Liverpool ECHO:
“We have a lot of money to buy a lot of incredible players, all the time we’re in for the money, that is true. So, without good quality players, we cannot do it.”
What RTK has to say
We aren’t about to argue with the man.
He’s spent hundreds of millions defenders alone and some of them can’t even get a game.
The squad depth is insane, sure they play amazing football but you’d expect that from a side which cost that much.
They have pulled ahead because of money. That is all. We can enjoy watching the football but we can’t separate it from the Harlem Globetrotters element.
Twitter reaction
He’s pointed out the obvious.
But he isn’t the only one.
