Jordan Henderson gave his take on some rumours coming out of Liverpool this week. Safe to say the captain wasn’t too impressed.
Things aren’t great at Anfield right now. Liverpool have lost three on the bounce – big games, too – and head into a massive week.
They’ll play RB Leipzig in the Champions League tomorrow, with the Merseyside Derby following at the weekend. They could really use some form, then.
But the display against Leicester was demoralising. Liverpool started reasonably well and took the lead with a fine goal. It was downhill from there, though.
A soft goal from a free-kick gave the Foxes an equaliser but the next two were awful for Liverpool. Terrible mistakes that shouldn’t happen – but very similar to the Manchester City debacle.
And the poor display and worrying atmosphere brought about rumours online that things weren’t great in the dressing room. Players arguing, people wanting out – the usual.
Jordan Henderson addressed these rumours on Monday ahead of the Leipzig game. He was emphatically clear on them.
“I don’t think I even need to comment [on the rumours],” he said. “Someone is sitting behind a keyboard, making rumours up about the manager or the players in the dressing room.
“It doesn’t really need me to say anything about it. Yeah. Not true.
“I quite liked the one where Robbo [Andy Robertson] and Ali [Alisson] were having a fight. That made us chuckle a little bit but apart from that, I didn’t really give it much thought.”
What RTK has to say
The opposite of a shock, here. There was essentially no chance these rumours had anything about them.

It just doesn’t fit in with the mentality at Liverpool. Were they really going to go from the unity of last season – the unity of two months ago, in fact – to being at each others’ throats?
So we can quickly move on. There is enough to worry about with Liverpool without fictional bust-ups.
