Liverpool had an absolute shocker this weekend. The Reds welcomed Man City to Anfield in a game which could’ve reignited a title race. Instead we saw the injury crisis catch up with the side as Pep Guardiola finally won a game at Anfield. Dejan Lovren has tweeted his support for Alisson Becker after the goalkeeper’s horror show.
Liverpool beaten
This was a game which could’ve shocked some life back into this season.
Man City had won 13 on the bounce and the Reds had been in patchy form.
The two sides’ contrasting fortunes had left Citizens top of the table, opening up a gap ahead of the holders.
At first it was a relatively cagey affair but the Reds’ makeshift back four was exposed after halftime when Ilkay Gundogan managed to tuck home a rebound.
Mo Salah levelled things with a well taken penalty but the game was decided by a brief period of madness.
Alisson Becker gifted Man City two goals in quick succession when he simply played the ball out to the visitors.
Dejan Lovren message for Alisson Becker
The Reds have always been able to rely on their goalkeeper since he arrived from Roma.
This was a rare aberration.
Former teammate Dejan Lovren tweeted his support for Alisson Becker after the game, pointing out that we can only learn from failure.
What RTK has to say
If there’s anybody who knows about mistakes for Liverpool it is Dejan Lovren.
The Croatian was a loyal servant to the club but he was regularly found lapsed in concentration.
Despite his own moments of madness he still came good for us for the most part.
We fully expect Alisson to get over this rare error, he’s far too good to dwell on it.
