Liverpool are in desperate need of a centre back. The Reds appear to be edging closer to the signing of Ben Davies but the club really could do with another arrival. There’s been dozens of names suggested but one name refuses to go away. According to Sky Germany, Liverpool want to sign Ozan Kabak today but face a problem.

Liverpool defensive crisis

The Reds started the season with just three senior centre backs.

By mid-November we’d lost our starting partnership for the rest of the season.

Since then Fabinho has filled in at the back but both the Brazilian and Joel Matip are currently sidelined.

Ben Davies is thought to be on the verge of signing from Preston North End but ideally we need a second arrival.

Liverpool want to sign Ozan Kabak

The Reds have been linked with dozens of defenders since the Van Dijk injury.

Liverpool have been linked with Ozan Kabak since last season.

According to Sky Germany, the Reds want to bring the Schalke defender in on loan today.

However, they face a complication: the German side need to bring in a replacement but they only have until 5pm to do so.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Ozan Kabak would end an enduring saga.

We’ve been rumoured to be interested in the Turkish defender for what feels like eternity.

Should we finally get this over the line then at least we don’t have to read the same rumours over and over again.

The deal is allegedly a loan with an option to buy; this would be a great benefit to the Reds as opposed to an obligation to buy – should he not live up to the hype then we can send him back.
