Liverpool have been linked with a number of different defenders in the past few weeks and months. The Reds injury crisis has caused us fans and journalists to examine the side’s options going forward. One name keeps cropping up. James Pearce has reported that Liverpool had contact with representatives of Ozan Kabak in November.
Liverpool need a centre back
Jürgen Klopp has had a tough time of it this season.
The boss has lost every single one of his senior centre backs to injury.
Virgil van Dijk ruptured his ACL in October and a few weeks later Joe Gomez was ruled out with his own knee issue.
Joel Matip has been in and out of the side and is currently sidelined with an abductor problem.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson become our 10th centre back partnership of the season when we played Southampton.
The need for a centre back can’t be denied but the logistics of bringing one in in January are tough.
Liverpool contact with Ozan Kabak
There have been dozens of defenders linked with the Reds since the injury crisis began.
One of the most frequently linked centre backs plies his trade in the German Bundesliga at Schalke.
According to James Pearce for The Athletic, Liverpool were in contact with Ozan Kabak via his representatives back in November.
However, the club decided against a move for the Turkish defender who Schalke value at around £22.5m.
What RTK has to say
It looks as though Kabak will go somewhere in the next couple of windows but Anfield looks unlikely.
The Turkish international has been linked with us often enough but he’s not having the best of seasons in Germany.
We expect the club to weigh up their options again when the long term fitness of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez becomes clearer.
