Liverpool have been hit by the worst injury crisis of modern times this season. The Reds have seen most of their back line ruled out. In fact, every one of the back five has been sidelined at one point or another. On deadline day the club are working to fix things. According to The Mail, Liverpool could sign Duje Caleta-Car but there’s a problem.
Liverpool need a centre back
The Reds sold Dejan Lovren to Zenit in the summer and decided against replacing him.
We can presume the thinking was that Virgil van Dijk never gets injured and it’s unlikely that Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho will all be ruled out at the same time.
The worst case scenario came to pass and now we are without any senior centre backs.
Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are unlikely to play again this term whilst Joel Matip and Fabinho are a couple of weeks away.

Liverpool want Duje Caleta-Car
According to The Mail, Liverpool want to sign Duje Caleta-Car.
The 24-year-old Croatian centre back is a crucial part of Andre Villas Boas’ Marseille defence.
The report claims that the defender turned down a £22m move to West Ham over the summer in order to hold out for a move to a Champions League club.
The Mail states that whilst a £2m swoop for Ben Davies is nearing completion Jürgen Klopp wants Caleta-Car and the player has agreed to join.
However, the French side’s inability to find a replacement has threatened the deal.
What RTK has to say
When it rains it pours.
Liverpool have waited and waited. They could’ve had a deal lined up for completion the day the window opened.
Then all hell broke loose and now they’re reportedly looking to sign two defenders on deadline day.
Honestly, I just don’t know with this club at times.
Whatever they do I’ll trust them, Michael Edwards doesn’t get much wrong.
