Liverpool are in dire need of a centre back, there’s no debating that. The Reds are crying out for reinforcements and don’t have long to secure them. The club have repeatedly sent out signals that they were going to wait until the summer. However, James Pearce has said he’d be ‘very surprised’ if Liverpool don’t sign a centre back before the deadline.

Liverpool have no defenders
That’s right.
The Reds started the season with three centre backs and now they have none.
Our starting partnership has been ruled out for the season, our third choice is injured too.
Then our fourth choice, makeshift option is also sidelined.
The Reds will likely lineup with Jordan Henderson plus somebody until a centre back is signed.
Liverpool to sign a centre back
When JoGo and Virgil van Dijk were ruled out by mid-November the thinking was that the club wouldn’t hesitate and they’d have a defender through the doors as soon as the window opened.
This didn’t come to pass.
Instead all of the signs have been that the club were prepared to wait for the right buy in the summer.
James Pearce has delivered an update on the Liverpool stance on signing a centre back.
The Athletic journalist told Sky Sports News:
“Liverpool are still working on a number of possible options. I’d be very surprised if they don’t get somebody over the line before tomorrow.
“Liverpool were hoping to wait until the summer for a CB but the tone has changed. Liverpool are looking at loans, free agents and even long term deals that make financial sense.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing a centre back is imperative.
We need a solid option at the back, we can’t keep dragging our midfielders in there.
A signing wouldn’t just give us security but would also allow the team to return Fabinho into his natural role.
Just please, get something done.
