It’s no secret that Liverpool need a defender. The Reds have been devastated by injuries this term and have been left shorthanded at the back as a result. Many Kopites have been pleading for a January arrival. The Reds take on West Ham today, Liverpool could use the opportunity to negotiate a deal for Issa Diop.
Liverpool centre back hunt
There’s no denying that the Reds need a centre back.
When Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season we were worried but not panicking.
When Joe Gomez was ruled out for the season we cursed our bad luck and just prayed we could make it through to January when we could bring in reinforcements.
The New Year came and went and there were no arrivals.
The Reds put faith in Fabinho and Joel Matip, both of whom are now injured.
The transfer deadline is tomorrow at 10pm. We need action immediately.
Liverpool hunting Issa Diop
This week has been rife with rumours.
The Athletic claimed Liverpool want to sign Issa Diop on loan but added that West Ham want a £20m obligation to buy inserted.
Whilst Foot Mercato have also reported on the Reds’ interest in the 24-year-old.
The centre back hasn’t been a regular starter this season, last term he made 33 starts in the league.
Liverpool could use West Ham game
The Reds face off against West Ham today with Jürgen Klopp’s side looking to build momentum after a 3-1 win over Spurs.
The meeting between the two sides could be useful on and off the pitch.
The visitors could use the fixture as an opportunity to negotiate face to face with West Ham over the potential Liverpool signing of Issa Diop.
Given the deadline being tomorrow at 10pm it would be handy to be able to speed talks up by negotiating in person.
