Liverpool have no senior centre backs available. The Reds have been fighting fires at the back since the start of the season and it has all come to a head just days before the closure of the January transfer window. Plenty of names have been touted as saviours. Twitter has reacted to reported Liverpool interest in Shkodran Mustafi.
When the Reds sold Dejan Lovren over the summer without replacing him it was seen as a risk.
However, we trusted the club. They don’t get much wrong.
They got this one very wrong, by mid-November our first choice pairing was out for the season.
Since then Joel Matip has been in and out of the side, at the moment he is out – along with the backup-makeshift option Fabinho.
We need reinforcements desperately.
Liverpool interest in Shkodran Mustafi
There’s been dozens of names linked with a move to Anfield.
The rumours fired up when Joe Gomez was ruled out, not signing a centre back in January appeared unthinkable.
According to the Evening Standard, Liverpool hold an interest in Shkodran Mustafi.
The 28-year-old Arsenal centre back is yet to start a Premier League game this season.
The Athletic touted the defender as one of the Reds’ numerous options.
What RTK has to say
Honestly, just get somebody in, anybody.
Even if he isn’t the best defender in the world he has experience.
We need experienced backup. Hopefully he won’t have to play too many games but we need an experienced defender to step in when necessary.
Just, anybody. Please.
Some Arsenal fans think it’s hilarious.
One in, one out.
He’d complete a rare journey.
Some Kopites are terrified of the prospect.
