Liverpool tell Kylian Mbappe they’d sell a current superstar to sign him, according to reports. The Reds are supposedly a very credible destination for the Frenchman.
This comes from Geoffroy Garétier, a journalist for Canal+ in France. Speaking on ‘Late Football Club’, he claimed Liverpool are in talks with Kylian Mbappe’s entourage.
In fact, the Reds are apparently the most credible destination for Mbappe, leapfrogging Real Madrid in that regard. Liverpool have more financial means that Los Blancos, they claim.
And it appears that Liverpool are willing to go all-in on this one. They’d even sell one of their front-three to make the deal happen, although the report does not specify who.
This comes after a string of reports regarding Mbappe. ESPN recently outlined the situation, claiming Liverpool and Real both need to prove they have the funds.
Both, however, are clubs Mbappe likes.
As for price, AS says that Real believe the absolute lowest cost would be £135m. And that’s just the transfer fee, not taking considerably wages into account.

Honestly, we don’t see how Liverpool could make this work without selling one of the current stars. Things are just a lot easier if they do.
There’s the obvious benefit – money. Selling a star makes it a lot easier to pay that £135m fee.
But the other benefit is that selling creates space for Mbappe. He’s someone who can play any of the three positions across the attack, which is already something Liverpool have at the club.
That versatility makes it very easy to integrate Mbappe, no matter who stays or goes. We’ve mentioned before that this is a real luxury.
But they still need first-team space. Diogo Jota will command a prominent role, too, and trying to make five first-team forwards work would be very difficult.
So if Liverpool do want Mbappe, we fully expect them to sell a current star.
