Liverpool have been clever in the transfer market in recent seasons. The Reds have been selling high and buying low, moving on unwanted academy products for huge fees and using the money to bring in diamonds in the rough. We could profit off another youngster in future. Liverpool should tie Rhys Williams down to a new long term contract.

Liverpool sales
Michael Edwards has proven in recent years that he has the magic touch.
The director has been clever with his sales pitches, as evidenced by the amount of money he’s raked in.
We took Bournemouth for £19m for Dominic Solanke and £15m for Jordon Ibe.
Sheffield United coughed up £23.5m for Rhian Brewster.
We’ve spent this money wisely, in the most recent window we signed Thiago for less money than we got for Brewster.
Rhys Williams opportunities
This season nobody expected Rhys Williams to feature as much as he has.
The 19-year-old centre back has been given regular opportunities at the back.
He’s made 12 appearances in all competitions, including starts in the Champions League.
He’s had a few shaky moments but for the most part he’s handled the pressure well.
Sign now sell later
Liverpool handed Rhys Williams a new contract in September 2020.
This was before he’d shown his enormous potential on the big stage.
It was also before he took on a more prominent role in the side in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
The Reds should hand Rhys Williams another long term deal to keep him at the club for the foreseeable and to keep him happy.
He may not be a long term option in the centre of defence but he’s shown enough this season to indicate he can fetch a sizeable fee further down the line.
Considering the amounts we got for Solanke and Ibe we could bag a decent pay day for Williams as long as we keep him on a long contract.
