John Aldridge Liverpool to 'do all they can' to sign Erling Haaland

John Aldridge wants Liverpool to ‘do all they can’ to bring Erling Haaland to Anfield. The Reds’ legend believes the player is ‘perfect’.

Erling Haaland has yet another admirer and this time it’s someone close to Liverpool. John Aldridge wants the player at Anfield – he feels he’d be perfect.

“Roberto Firmino’s form has been a concern for some time, so I’d encourage Liverpool to do all they can to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next summer,” he wrote for

“Jurgen Klopp’s side don’t have a Plan B for their forward line and, as we have seen with their slump in form – they don’t have a back-up plan when Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Firmino are not firing.

“Haaland would give them that variation and, while he would cost in excess of £100m, I’d like to see Liverpool go for him.”

Aldridge’s headline declares Haaland to be the ‘perfect’ player to turn Liverpool’s form around.

What RTK has to say

Aldridge’s comments come at a time when Liverpool are struggling up top. They have no goals in their last four Premier League games, with no wins in five.

Something has to be done but there’s a catch-22 here.

Liverpool aren’t going to sign Haaland now – their only chance comes in the summer. They need to goals now, though, and if they don’t get them, they may fall out of the Champions League.

Doing so would surely drop them from the Haaland race. So to sum up, Liverpool could really use Haaland now to give them the best chance of securing Haaland in the summer.

It’s an awkward situation.

Regardless, we imagine Liverpool will try to sign the best forward they can in the summer. And that may be Haaland – we believe only Kylian Mbappe would be a better signing.

Aldridge could be right about Haaland, though. He may be the perfect player to reassert Liverpool as the dominant attacking force.

And hopefully, Liverpool are in position to fight for him as soon as he’s available.
