Liverpool are expected to have a quiet January transfer window. The Reds have been begged to make a move or two but the owners appear stubborn given the financial impact of the pandemic. Liverpool urged to buy

There’s no prizes for guessing why Liverpool have been urged to buy in the January transfer window.

The Reds have been awful in their last five Premier League games.

Sure, a poor run of form is no reason to immediately hit the transfer market.

However, this sequence of results has highlighted the importance of longstanding issues in the squad, namely depth.

We need more cover at the back and more rotation and competition up front.

Edouard wants Premier League move

This January saw West Ham cash in on flop forward Sebastian Haller.

The Hammers shipped the forward off to Ajax and are on the lookout for his replacement.

According to the Daily Star, West Ham want Odsonne Edouard from Celtic.

The Frenchman is thought to be valued at £35m by the Glasgow giants but the report claims that he has his heart set on a move to a top six Premier League side.

The Reds need greater quality in depth up front.

At the moment the only striker we have available to step into the side as an out and out nine is Divock Origi.

Against Burnley we saw why he just isn’t up to the task.

One on one in a vital game the Belgian went for the difficult finish and cracked the underside of the crossbar.

Whereas Edouard has been lethal in his time at Celtic.

The 23-year-old has netted 74 in 151 games, not bad when you consider he had to settle in after relocating from Paris to Glasgow.

The Celtic forward is also able of playing off the left, a versatility which will be attractive to Jürgen Klopp.

There is also the consideration that he enters the final year of his deal at Celtic this summer, meaning the club could strike a cheaper deal.
