More recently Trent Alexander-Arnold has redefined the right back role and Curtis Jones has given us plenty of cause for excitement. There’s been some news from the academy this week as Tyler Morton has signed a new long term contract.

There are plenty of youngsters in the academy to be getting excited about.
The Reds have been bringing in some of the brightest prospects from across the globe but have also snapped up some top talents from closer to home.
Billy Koumetio has been impressing, even earning a Champions League debut.
Germany U16s captain Melkamu Frauendorf has arrived from Hoffenheim and highly rated Stefan Bajcetic has joined from Celta Vigo.
Whilst Scouser Layton Stewart has risen through the ranks scoring goals at every level and Tyler Morton has been shining for the U23s.
Tyler Morton signs long term contract
This week Liverpool announced that Tyler Morton has signed a new long term contract with the Reds.
The 18-year-old is described by the club as an all action midfielder.
He joined the academy at 7-years-old, arriving from Greenleas in Wallasey – the same junior side Jay Spearing came from, as well as current academy star Max Woltman.
A versatile middle man, Morton can operate as deeper playmaker or in a more advanced role.
He has been among the goals this term, scoring three times in the U23s last four games.
Most recently he netted an impressive equaliser against Everton, clipping one into the top corner with the keeper off his line.
He’s gained some admirers for his Derby goal.
He received plenty of well wishes.
