'Disrespect': Some Liverpool fans unhappy about UEFA Team of the Year

Liverpool have seen their side devastated by injuries this season. The Reds have had most of the first team ruled out at one time or another. The makeshift lineups have seen the Reds fail to perform at the standard we have come to expect and that’s been reflected in a fan poll. Some Liverpool fans are unhappy about the UEFA Team of the Year.

Liverpool and UEFA Team of the Year

This year’s UEFA TEam of the Year features just two Liverpool stars.

The 2019 edition saw five Reds in the fan voted lineup.

Thiago and Virgil van Dijk have been named in this year’s team.

The pair are joined by Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Sergio Ramos at the back.

Kevin De Bruyne and Lionel Messi are the other two midfielders.

Whilst the attacking trio is made up of Neymar, Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Liverpool stars in and out

Thiago has been included in the lineup on the strength of his performances for Bayern Munich.

The fact that he chose to pack it all in in Germany to join Liverpool is testament to the huge pulling power of the club at the moment.

Virgil van Dijk’s inclusion in the squad despite his three month absence shows just how revered he is in the game.

However, Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker have failed to retain their place in the squad.

Liverpool fans react

Some Kopites are miffed that the full backs didn’t make the cut.

Whilst others just want to see this team play together.
