Liverpool blew the chance to go top of the Premier League this weekend. The Reds, with a win, would’ve reclaimed their spot at the top of the table. Yet Man United were stubborn in defence and Jürgen Klopp’s men came up short. One pivotal moment has been called into question. Liverpool icon John Aldridge was miffed at a Paul Tierney decision which saved Man United in the second half.

Liverpool draw with United
The Reds haven’t scored in their last three Premier League games.
Before the campaign began who would’ve thought we’d be saying that at this point in the season?
The Reds are supposed to be a freewheeling, irresistible attacking force.
The impotency Jürgen Klopp’s men have shown in possession has been concerning to say the least.
This weekend we were once again blunt on the front foot and needed some goalkeeping heroics to spare our blushes in an entertaining 0-0 draw with Man United.
John Aldridge on Paul Tierney
There was a moment of controversy literally on the stroke of halftime.
The referee added a minimum of a minute onto the first period and allowed David De Gea to eat up most of that with a free kick.
The ref then blew six seconds before the minute was up, ending the half with Sadio Mane on the ball behind the Man United defence.
Liverpool icon John Aldridge tweeted his displeasure at Paul Tierney, the ex-Red clearly puzzled by the bizarre decision to not only blow early but to blow with the Reds through on goal.
What RTK has to say
I don’t think I’ll ever shut up about this.
This is one of the most bizarre and frustrating refereeing errors we’ve had to contend with in a long time.
To be clear, it’s an error. He has indicated a minimum, that is a minimum, you heard me a minimum, of one minute added time.
The ref has then blown early with Sadio Mane one on one with the goalkeeper. Unacceptable and game changing. The ref saved Man United with that one – do you really think Sadio isn’t tucking away that chance?
