Diogo Jota absence

Liverpool fans were more than surprised by the signing of Diogo Jota.

The Reds weren’t linked with him at all before his £41m switch from Wolves.

There were some question marks over his role and the price tag but doubters were silenced swiftly.

The Portuguese star established himself as one of the signings of the season, netting big goals against West Ham, Arsenal and a hattrick against Atalanta.

The forward picked up a knee injury in a dead rubber tie with Midtjylland in December and he hasn’t featured since.

Diogo Jota injury update

Liverpool fans have been nervously awaiting some clarity on when their summer signing will return to the fold.

James Pearce has delivered a Diogo Jota injury update which comes as a crushing blow.

The Athletic journalist reported that Jota will be back in the side in early February.

This comes contrary to recent reports which suggested he could return by the end of January, potentially playing in the away tie at Spurs.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool not having Jota available for the Spurs game could prove decisive.

We’ve been blunt going forward of late and the Portugal star has consistently come up with the goods when we needed him.

Hopefully the boss will be able to get his players psyched up enough that we won’t miss him too badly but the way things are going at the moment this is the last thing we wanted to hear.
