Liverpool have seen some excellent players pass through the academy ranks through the years. Some go on to great things whilst others come along at the wrong time. One prospect who hasn’t been able to make that next step at Anfield has been set out on loan, Adam Lewis has joined Plymouth Argyle until the end of the season.
Adam Lewis Liverpool academy star
There was a time when Adam Lewis was set to be the next best Liverpool youngster.
The versatile left sided player impressed Steven Gerrard at U18 level.
In 2017 the Anfield icon said of Lewis:
“If Adam can keep this consistency up I don’t think he’ll be around this team for much longer.
“I want to keep him for as long as I can, but for me, he’s such a threat on the left side.
“Going forward, I haven’t seen anyone as good as him at that age, in terms of quality and what he can deliver in the final third.”
Since then he’s failed to progress into the first team. He was recently loaned to Amiens but things didn’t work out in the French second tier.
Adam Lewis Plymouth Argyle loan
We recently reported that there were rumours of Lewis’ loan spell at Amiens being cut short.
It appears those rumours were accurate.
It was confirmed today that Adam Lewis has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan until the end of the season.
The Reds’ youngster joins a Pilgrims side in the middle of the League One table and in a patchy run of form.
What RTK has to say
Hopefully Adam Lewis enjoys his Plymouth Argyle loan spell.
He needs regular first team football and he may well get it at The Pilgrims.
The youngster struggled for game time in the French second tier but the English third tier should provide a stern test for the young man.
Fingers crossed he kick stars his senior career, we’ll keep you updated on his progress.
