Liverpool have been disregarding the FA Cup in recent seasons. We’ve never been past the fifth round since Jürgen Klopp took over the club. The Reds beat Aston Villa in the third round this year and an ex-coach also succeeded. Neil Critchley has said he wants Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round.
Remember Neil Critchley?
The current Blackpool manager Neil Critchley left his role as Liverpool U23s coach last year to take over the Tangerines.
Critch was the Liverpool U23s manager but he took over the senior squad on two occasions.
The first was when the Reds were faced with conflicting ties in the League Cup and Club World Cup, the reserves boss was in the dugout as a youthful Liverpool side were beaten by Aston Villa.
Critchley also managed the Reds against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup fourth round when the first team were on a mid-season break.
Critchley wants Liverpool in FA Cup
Blackpool made it through to the fourth round of the cup this weekend.
The Tangerines beat West Brom on penalties after drawing 2-2 after extra time.
When asked post match about the next round, Neil Critchley said he wants to take on Liverpool in the FA Cup.
What RTK has to say
It would be a pleasure to take on Neil Critchley in the FA Cup.
He is a proper football man and he is still well respected at the club.
Jürgen Klopp was gutted to lose him from the set up so a reunion would be more than welcome.
Fingers crossed the romance of the cup throws up this special occasion.
