Liverpool have made some transformational signings in the Jürgen Klopp era. The Reds have had to address structural issues in the squad, mainly at the back, and they’ve done so with some decisive moves. One of our most important buys came from the Italian Serie A, though we may have gotten lucky. Alisson Becker was very close to signing for Real Madrid according to his agent.

Liverpool sign Alisson Becker
In 2018 the Reds lost the Champions League final 3-1 to Real Madrid.
Kopites were heartbroken with the game thrown away by two calamitous errors from Loris Karius.
Just a few weeks later the Reds had addressed the issue.
Alisson Becker was signed from Roma for a world record £67m.
Since then he’s gone on to win the Champions League, Premier League and Club World Cup.
Alisson Becker and Real Madrid
The Reds may have gotten lucky landing the Brazilian.
According to agent Fabrizio de Vecchi, Alisson Becker nearly signed for Real Madrid.
In an interview with AS, the businessman reported how the deal came close to fruition:
“It will seem strange, but I have a lot of affection for a signing that in the end could not be: that of Alisson to Real Madrid
“The goalkeeper was already playing for Roma, where Walter Sabatini took him, and Ernesto Bronzetti, my mentor, had recently died.
“I would have loved to close that operation: the truth is that I was very close to achieving it.
“Everyone knows that Ernesto carried out many operations between Giallorossi and Madrid: it would have been a nice way to remember him.”
What RTK has to say
Gives me shivers just thinking about it.
Where would we be without Ali?
The Brazilian completely transformed the side. He has been all the difference at times.
Not only have his saves proved invaluable but his presence lifts the side and instills confidence in the defence.
