Liverpool run a tight ship. For the most part there aren’t many controversies. The Reds are a disciplined bunch and this is an attitude which runs right through into the academy. The summer of 2019 saw one of our biggest recent fallouts as a youngster left for Italy. He has since returned to England. Some Liverpool fans have reacted to Bobby Duncan crashing out of the FA Cup with Derby.

Bobby Duncan debacle
Back in the summer of 2019 a storm was brewing at the academy.
Highly rated academy striker and cousin of Steven Gerrard, Bobby Duncan, wanted assurances of first team opportunities.
If he didn’t get these reassurances then we wanted a move, as the story goes.
The player’s agent went on to accuse Liverpool of bullying Bobby Duncan and the youngster was subsequently sold to Fiorentina.
The club refuted the bullying claims and the player’s agent was suspended and fined for his baseless claims.
Return and FA Cup defeat
In September 2020 the news broke that Derby County had rescued Duncan from Fiorentina.
The youngster had failed to break into the Serie A side as hoped and was looking to kickstart his career back in England.
Things haven’t quite worked out like that, he’s made just two sub appearances in the PL2 this season.
This weekend saw him start up top as a youthful Derby side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chorley.
