Roy Keane believes Liverpool are still Premier League title favourites

Liverpool are top of the Premier League despite the mountain of issues they’ve faced so far this season. The Reds have had to cope with VAR controversy, illness and injury but they are still perched atop the table. After Man City battered Chelsea, Roy Keane insisted Liverpool are still Premier League title favourites.

Libpool top the league

Liverpool are top of the league on goal difference.

This is despite losing their starting centre back partnership for the season and large swathes of the first team in the first half of the season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was absent for a spell, Thiago was missing for ten weeks.

Alisson Becker dropped out of the side for a time, as did Fabinho.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is only just returning, as are James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Despite it all, Liverpool are top of the league.

Roy Keane on Liverpool chances

This week saw Man City thump Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s side are in a tough patch of form and are being found out on a weekly basis at this point.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Roy Keane was adamant that Liverpool are still Premier League title favourites:

“I’m sticking with Liverpool.

“I think United are doing well, it’s certainly the most exciting league we’ve had for the last 10-15 years.

“The top two, I said it a couple of months ago, I’m gonna say Liverpool and City.”

What RTK has to say

As long as the Reds can keep the first XI fit between now and the end of the season then Roy Keane should be proved right about Liverpool.

We’ve been utterly devastated by injuries but we’ve still managed to claim top spot.

Now that Thiago is back and the recovery of our two centre backs is looking encouraging, as long as we stay in touching distance of the title until the end of the season we should have enough to get over the line.
